RAM/mobo compatible?

generic can work, and most of it does, but that doesnt mean its 100$ guaranteed.

But if you stick with a brand name company, 99% chance it will work (such as Corsair value select RAM, or Kingston value ram, etc)

i know i bought some cheapo stuff off of ebay a while back and that crap didnt work the least bit, so be careful

I would think that any PC3200 DDR400 RAM would work in the board however, in my expereince I've have problems with RAM compatibility in the past.

They state those RAM modules since they have been certified by MSI.

Alright, but those RAM also don't mention a 1gb stick.

Argh, all I want is cheap 1gb pc3200 RAM. That's it.

Trust me

if you go to newegg, and get any kind of Corsair or Kingston value RAM, not only will it work, but it will be cheap

a 1GB stick of Corsair Valueselect RAM is $88.

if you're not overclocking and just want RAM, it doesn't matter what you get just as long as the numbers fit =

DDR333 = DDR333
DDR400 = DDR400
DDR800 = DDR800
etc.

Just put the numbers together and look at ECC and buffering, make sure it has none of those. Don't worry about latency for generic RAM, just buy the generic stuff and fit it in. Who cares about what other people say about Corsair working more than the other, or PQI 'n such. JEDEC made the standard, and so why would it work less if you try a lesser name brand with DDR400 with a DDR400 slot?

Alright, thanks guys, I'm just gonna buy some cheap generic RAM. Lol, as long as it works, that's all I care.

I was just trying to give him the best guarnteed solution, because some cheap generic crap (espacially what is sold on ebay) just wont work on alot of mobos.

if he buys it from a place like newegg or zzf then yes, it will probably work. but just some no name crap from ebay or other places of that sorts is a good possibility of it crapping out and not working

I heard that Newegg.com has a good return policy of if you buy it there & it doesnt work I'm sure they'll take it back. (Note: no expereince with this)
