RAM memroy not upgrading to 128

I'm trying to upgrade the amount of ram in my wifes etower 633id, and when I take out the pc100 64mb stick and replace it with a pc100 128mb (which I know is good because it came out of my old computer) the computer is saying its only a 64mb stick? When I put in the 128 AND the 64 in together the system window now says 128? Why is the computer reading the memory and a 64mb module?

Is the 128mb stick double sided? I take it the 64mb stick is single sided?

The etower can only address one side of the 128MB chip. The memory module is fine, it's just that your etower can't see the whole thing. See if there is a BIOS update and flash the BIOS. That might work. Or get a 128MB module with chips on one side only.
