It has 2 slots. So I have an old Intel mobo that had 128MB of Ram. I wanted to upgrdae to 512, so I bought a 512 stick. The mobo didn't like it, I found it wouldn't take it, max 256. Then I got 2x256 and now it reads at 32mb each stick. Any suggestions? no jumpers AFAIK, and maybe I need a bios update?

The board probably doesn't like high density memory.

Go to a place like memman.com where they have a memory selector.

Try a BIOS update. What chipset is that board? The board itself may max out at 256MB (2x128). I have one that does.
