Ram Issue

Hi all.
I just built a new system for a buddy: i7 930, 6gb OCZ Gold, 510w pc&power ps and a HIS 4670 1gb with win 7. We have been experiencing a blue screen memory dump error. After that happens in system it only shows 4gb of ram. Then I reset all 3 sticks and it shows 6gb again. Is it bad ram? Or could it be something else? Its very mind boggling. This is just my second build so I'm not sure what it could be.
Any help is appreciated.

Just an update, I did the memtest and also the windows memory tests and everything passed. I did however disable aero in win7 and all the issues seem to have eliminated. Not sure that aero was the culprit but if it's working I won't fix it. has anyone experience any issue with aero?

What have you been doing when the bsod happens?

If your board reports a lower ram amount then what is installed and is only fixed when you reset the sticks it sounds like a board issue or possible a short that is fixed when pressing the sticks into place.

Typically just browsing no program to speak of. He can be looking at Yahoo then the bsod happened. But its been over 24hrs and there hasnt been one issue. I dont know if disabling aero solved it or not but it looks to be ok. I was thinking about a mobo issue as well. The thing is when the bsod appeared and it rebooted it would show 4gb, then I would shutdown and restart and it would show 6gb again without having to reset the sticks. It is a very strange problem indeed. Thanks for the insight hennessy.
