RAM isn't recognizing right...

I just upgraded my uncle's system from 32 megs of RAM to 160 megs (128 + 32 megs)

The system however is only recognizing 64 megs of it, System Info and WCPUID only say 64 megs is there.

System Specs:
Emachine 500 mhz Celeron
Intel LX motherboard
Onboard Video (could this be using the RAM as video memory? Why would it allocate that much if so?)

Could it be that the memory manf. only put a 32 meg DIMM in the package? I've never heard of any issues with the Intel LX motherboard with allocating more than 64 megs of ram, so I'm guessing thats not it. Is there any issues with the Emachine or the motherboard chipset? Or could it be something else?

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks!

Have you tried to take out the 32MB and just install the 128MB SDRAM?
The LX board should be able to recognize the 128MB SDRAM with no problem. and what brand/chip does that 128MB stick use? It could be a conflict of mixing your RAM, but I haven't encounter one in a long time. and it could also meant your 128MB stick might be bad (it's not impossible either)

ok, another new part to the situation:
I switched the memory slots that each DIMM was in (32 in the second one and 128 in the first) and now it says 96 megs...

Any ideas to what's going on? Should I just exchange it or take it back?
Thanks

Edit: Also, the emachine manual says that the computer is able to handle up to 128 meg modules, 256 megs max for both slots total.

What kind of RAM chip does the 128MB stick has? I'm guessing that there's incompatiblity with the chip and your MB. (if the chip is the new 32Mx4 type, you'll only be able to see half of it, but I'm just guessing at this point) or the more probable answer is that the stick is bad.
