Ram is taken away whenever video card installed??

So...I've got an ASUS mATX board w/ onboard sound/video - 2GB DDR400 - HD2600 Pro - Pentium D 3.2Ghz

I just recently bought the HD2600, previously had only the onboard stuff but now this computer will be used for media via HDMI.

I installed Vista x64 on it this morning and now whenever the vid card is in, I get 512mb...with only the onboard, I get my 2Gb's back....whats up with that????

That's a new one. See if there's an option to disable the onboard video in the motherboard's BIOS, since it might otherwise be running both onboard and the HD2600 as a potential dual-head setup.
