Right now I have CORSAIR VALUE SELECT DUAL CHANNEL 1024MB KIT PC3200 DDR CAS2.5 2X512MB with ASUS A8N-E MOTHERBOARD ATX S939 NFORCE4 ULTRA Now, i wish to increase the amount of ram on my board. 2 gigs total

My concerns are

1. Should i buy 1 gig stick or 2 more 512
2. How does this effect my dual channel thing ( I dont understand ram )
3. I read somewhere that running 4 slots filled will slow computer down . Something like 2T or something like that.
4. If buying one gig is possible on this board , which ram would i buy? ( Plz give a link )
5. does the ram have to be the same latency?[

Anyhelp on this will be grealy appreciated.

Im going with 2 gigs mostly for gaming. ( bf2 ) I dont want no lag

Oh maybe i should post my specs as well , just incase you think some thing else is choking up my performance.

3700+ san diego with X800XL and 1 gig of ram atm.

I was just told that i cant stick in another 1 gig of ram in, cause then i wont be running in dual channel ? is that right? Then would be filling up all 4 dim slots with an extra 2*512 ram be worth while?

If you add another 2 DIMMs (2 X 512) your system will run in dual channel. I you only add 1 DIMM it will not. Dual Channel offers more memory bandwith so it will be faster. I would by the identical ram that you are running now, it is best not to mix and match different brands. If you use 4 DIMMs, your system will run at 2T command rate which is about 3-5% slower than 1T. If you have money to spend, you can buy 2 X 1 GB sticks of dual channel ram. You will be able to run at 1T, and these have better timmings than your value ram so they will be faster. T
