thinking of buying some ram ;)

where i come from (perth australia.... most remote city in world yadda yadda)
we have a few types
Kingston, Hyundai, Transcend, Samsung and generic, i have also been able to locate CORSAIR at a bit of a premium.

My question is, except for the corsair ram, everything is rated at cas 2.5, and i heard cas2 is the way to go.
If i buy a dd400 or ddr333 (Cas2.5) and run them at ddr333 or ddr266 respectivly will i be able to use cas 2 timings?

thanks ;)

i'd take 1 gig cas 2.5
already, many games are beginnning to make use of 1 GB ram like Simcity 4 and BF1942
and prices of ram now are at a low

Just to give you an idea:
I bought a stick of PC2700 CAS2.5 RAM from crucial last week.
I popped it in, and I had a good idea it would run at CAS2 no problem.
As it turns out, even the motherboard's automatic settings (reading from the chip) set it to CAS2.
If you don't overclock a chip, you can normally keep it at CAS2.

That being said, I'll take that gig of CAS2.5 RAM (Kingston or Samsung, please). Cheers mate. :)
