Ram help

Ok make sure your Mobo supports DDR2 and why do you want 4GB nothing really supports that much RAM yet. Most computer will only recognize a little over 3.

i updated my first post with a link to my motherboard specs, my mother board does support ddr2 and up to 4gb of it. Also its what i use right now. And as for why i want that much ram.....Why not?

The DDR667 might give you a bit of a boost depending on what you are running. But 4gb of ram is pretty much an overkill. Windows doesn't allocate more than 2gb of ram to a single program. The /3GB switch will allow some programs to get a little more than 2gb. But basicly, 4gb is a complete waste in most cases and you'll get no benifit. But you haven't even bothered to tell us what you plan on running on the system, so you'll need to give more info..

well i have outlook running 24/7 photoshop cs, i do alot of video encoding, antivirus is running 24/7.......Well it already has 2 512 sticks of ram in there, should i just get 1 2gb ddr2667 kit for a total of 3gb?

Unless you have a 64bit OS, no application can access over 2GB of memory. I bet it shows up as less than 4GB under WinXP also, since most BIOS reserve the first bit of memory address space for devices.

I'll give you this. As soon as Vista comes out, you're probably going to be glad you have 4GB. Also, memory prices are some of the lowest I've ever seen, so I can't knock you for that either. Have fun.
