Ram for notebooks pc266 vs pc400

I have bought a g736 ECS and its nice 9600 radeon 128 3.0... wondering though the guy has temp put in 266 i cna keep that (266pc 1 gig ram) and he is saying he wont guarantee 400pc 1 gig saying I will have like to deal with it if it doesnt work

Any stability issues ? I dunno it should work ok shouldnt it in a laptop ?
