ram for i810 mobo?

I need to get 256mb of SDRAM for an i810 motherboard. I haven't bought RAM in some time, so I have some basic questions.. Is SDRAM PC133? Also, would an i810 motherboard support 256mb in one slot, or are there limitations?

Could I just buy this at Crucial: RAM

I also went into the FS/FT forum and someone mentioned something about low density RAM for some intel motherboards, so I'm a little confused now

Why don't you either plug in the make and model of the motherboard or into Crucial's memory selector and go from there.

Well that changes things then. If you get a standard PC133 256MB stick from Crucial it should work OK. The 810 supports a miximum of 512MB of memory and the motherboards almost always have 2 DIMM slots. This would mean that double sided 256MB dimm would have to work. Also, the 815 also supports a maximum of 512MB and I have 2 256MB DIMMs from Crucial that are working fine. I think the only size that may not work is a 512MB DIMM.

Well, the mobo only has 1 slot for RAM It's a tiny mobo.

What's the difference between low density and high density?

the number 32x64 means the module is 256MB, 32x72 for 256MB with ECC.

the number 16x8 or 32x4 means the individual chip type, 16x8 or 32x4 are both 128Mbit chip, 16 of them make up a 256MB module. 16x8 is the normal stuff, work on Intel and all other brand chipsets. 32x4 is the so-called high density stuff, doesn't work on Intel BX, 810, 815, etc chipsets. There is also 8x16 type.

the number 16x8 is actually 4 banks x 4 Mbit x 8, 32x4 is actually 4 banks x 8 Mbit x 4.

And if it is, I built one for my daughter and installed a 256 stick of crucial PC133 I had laying around. Works good with one caveat: The crucial I originally bought for my MSI pro2a board and is a full height PCB and with the angle of the ram slot, the full height stick won't clear the HSF . To install the ram, I had to remove the HSF from the celeron (which I recommend due to the crap tape/pad that came stock) and install the ram first, a little AS, and then reinstalled the HSF. Works good, but I'll have to remove the HSF again to remove the Ram, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
