I'm about to buy:

-Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L $97
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813128059

-Intel Pentium E2160 Allendale 1.8GHz $80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16819116036

I intend to OC the E2160 to 3.0 GHZ (conservative, yeah, I know). What I can't decide on is which RAM I should go with. So many brands, so many products, so many success and horror stories. Anyone running this set-up or just have a a suggestion for a winner? I'd like to pay less than $100.

Thanks!

Are you looking at 4GB or 2GB? The reason I ask is that you say you're looking to spend less than $100. For 2GB of RAM, you should be looking to spend under $50.

If you are looking for 4GB, check the Hot Deals section for the link to the 2GB Super Talent sticks at eWiz. I have two of those in a P35-DS3L with an E4500 OCed to 3GHZ.

How'd it turn out? I have the same mobo/proc. I used OCZ ram. We'll see if I ever get that rebate. The highest I was able to get mine to was 3.1ghz. Very happy with the speed.

I use the HP memory in my system (300Mhz x 10 = 3GHz) and it works flawlessly for the past 4-5 months. They are cheap to boot. At $7.50 (after $20 rebate for each stick) per 1 GB stick, you cannot beat this ram value wise. Free shipping to boot. I got my rebate check within 4 weeks. Now, that is fast. Here is the link.

I have the same Super Talent PC6400 with an E4300 on a Gigabyte 965P-S3 oc'ed to 3.2GHZ with 1.4Volts on the CPU. Stable and fast! Rarely exceeds 100% CPU usage with my usage. Of course, I do not play games! Last time I checked the prices on the 2GB sticks it was less than $40.00 each!

The rebate period on this A-DATA 2GB (2 x 1GB), PC2 6400 makes it a very sweet deal on DDR2 800 that's rated to run at the standard 1.8v.
So sweet in fact that I couldn't resist snagging some. Of course I don't need it, but it's only $28 for 2GB, for crying out loud. :D

It sure beats paying $309.00 for 256MB. You kids now days are spoiled.

Boo-freakin'-hoo. :p I remember paying $50 for a single 16MB stick and thinking I was getting a good deal. Of course, this was 12 or so years ago. By comparison, I just bought 4GB (2x2GB DDR2 @ 667MHz) for a home file server for a grand total of $80.

For the OP: I am currently running an Intel C2D @ 2.9GHz, but this is in an Asus board, rather than a Gigabyte like you're looking at.

I guess I'm just getting old coz I still remember SIMM Rams being sold in 256KB's and vividly remember having my 286 with 1 MB (4 sticks of 256KB) at a staggering $200! Darn I need to retire!

I'm using the same motherboard, with an overclocked e4500@3.3Ghz.
Using 2 sticks 1GB supertalent + 2 sticks of 1 GB Crucial for 4GB total.

I was concerned it might not like two different brands , but it works fine.
I of course paired up the same brands for each ddr socket.
