Hi all,

I plan on buying a DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert for my new gaming Rig. I know that this is a high quality board and I know that it needs high quality RAM. The thing is I dont want to pay 350 for 2 gigs of RAM. im looking for ram that over clocks really nicely, 2 gigs (2x 1 gig) and is pretty cheap (under 200 dollars).

thanks

1x2GBs overclock won't really help performance in ANY application except Sandra/Everest. 200MHz (2-3-2-5) and 250MHz (3-4-4-8) will result in same performance. This is from a first-hand experience. I'm not saying you should pick up a no-name brand from eBay, but as long as they are from a reputable company, you don't need to worry. Just use dividers and you're good for action. FYI, currently there are only 3 types of ICs used for 1GB DIMMS: Micron, Infineon, Samsung. Micron chips are Ballistix, Samsung UCCCs are found in those PC4000 rated DIMMs (but at 3-4-4-8), and the rest are Infineon ICs.
