Took a risk and bought a 'untested' Asus Maximus VI from ebay today for £36, are both these rams compatible?

Looking at the specs of the mobo, any speed after 1600 has OC next to it so should I buy a 1600 or slightly higher? Seems like the G3258 supports upto 1333mhz

And cl10 or cl9. This will go with a G3258 for a dolphin emulation PC. Which of the 2 brands or other recommend? Nothing too expensive

Im after a single 8gb stick because can upgrade in future and its cheaper, however just read this:

Go with 2x4GB rather than 1x8GB. Your CPU/motherboard uses dual channel memory so your ram will be running at half speed if you only run a single stick. Run either two or four for best performance.

Is this true?

Yes it is true, it was called back in the day "memory interleaving".

Effectively what this means that whilst one of the 4GB modules cannot be accessed for writes or reads (the CL refers to the amount of cycles the RAM is not accessible) the other one will be available.

So the the refractory period of your RAM is reduced.

Put it this way, your girlfriend gives you a BJ and you come. It will take a bit of time, no matter what she does for the little lad you show the big world to when you go for a pee gets you to show "the gallant response" again.

Now lets say you had two of the little lads, while the one was recovering from the BJ you could still enjoy the second one getting the BJ.

And when that was spent the first one would be "up" to it again.
