I just built my first comp. (sig) Anyways been running fine for a week and then
on Sat. morning it froze and wouldnt reboot so i reformated and reinstalled win 98
but had a lot of troble trying to install windows. finally got it to work and
last night was online and it just shut down and wouldnt do anything got some beeps
first couple times then nothing. took the ddr out put sdram in and its good as new
my question is does ram go bad ?

Also today when i was on my computer i had a heat spike, all of a sudden monitor pops up
and shows a heat spike on graph it like shot up to 100 for just 1 sec the came right
back down. to normal which is 55c (have thermal silver on order right now just using
silcon stuff that came with heatsink)has anyone else ever had a heat spike like that?

I don't know what brand of ram this is. I ordered it online(from jcshopper.com) says made in usa on chip and has a "M" on warranty label on chip

also just had another one of those heat spikes :Q i dont what to do

not sure if it will help but try to not O/C it. Also try to get a new RAM from somewhere where you can return it after. See if changing the RAM will work or not. Also are you using a good power supply cause some people say power supply is also a big issue when you run AMD. I personally don't have AMD so I don't know how much I can help you but I see some people recommend a good ps for AMD to run.
