Ok, I see most ram that are pair'd have Dual Channel. I get how its used, and if a Motherboard supports it, but how do you tell with buying 1GB Ram Sticks? Like, if I wanted to buy one gig of ram now, than another of the same model/brand later, would they both work in Dual Channel? When I search Newegg, I cant tell. Is Dual Channel something the Motherboard does, or is it the Ram itself? Example:

Corsair ValueSelect 1GB Ram:

If I bought two of these, would it work in Dual Channel? I cant tell like I can with a two-pack like 2x1GB (example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146970)
I would be thankful for someone to clarify how Dual Channel works. Thanks in advance:)

dual channel is purely a funtion of the motherboard, but certain types of ram can cause conflicts on certain motherboards, rarely. The ram kits with two sticks they sell are supposedly garunteed to run in dual channel, but having said that, it is once again up to the motherboard whether or not the ram will run properly. Once again, conflicts are pretty rare, so don't worry about it too much. You would probably be fine if you wanted to buy a stick now and a stick later, and most mobos are very tolerant of mismatching ram and still being able to run it in dual channel. My nf-s, for example: when i built the system, i bought 1 512mb stick of kingmax pc3500. about 6 months later, i ordered another stick, but they sent me a stick of PC3700. my frequency's were manually set from inception, so it booted right up into dual channel with the ram in the correct slots. your motherboard manual will have a diagram showing which slots to use in a dual channel configuration. i hope this helped out.

Thanks for clearing it up. Now I can buy 1GB with more confidence. Im getting a DFI nF4 Ultra-Infinity Motherboard, so I think it will work out (hopefully).
