RAM -- Dual Channel (pack) vs. Dual Pack

I was looking at memory at NewEgg yesterday and I noticed that some of the 2 x 512 packages are listed as "Dual Channel" (pack) and some as "Dual Pack".

Is there a difference? Does it mean that a "dual pack" is merely two sticks of RAM with the same specs but that haven't been tested as a pair? (That's what dual channel means, right?)

Do motherboards that have dual channel memory require the purchase of a matched pair or would it be OK to purchase RAM as a "dual pack"?

In most if not all cases dual pack ram will run fine in dual channel mode, in fact I have had luck running dual channel with a couple singley purchased sticks of the same make/brand.

Just use the same manuf of RAM and dont waste the money on the "dual channel" pack ram its a joke. You get the same ram either way and they get more money
