I'm looking for a good ram drive software to use on my new bloomfield build and noticed there's quite a few around. Anyone recommend any in particular?

Why? Generally if you've decided to use a RAM drive as a solution to some problem, you've now got two problems.

I use, and like the features of, superspeed's Ramdisk Plus 10.

And given that for some reason the tone of the thread has now been set to "if you use a ramdisk you must be an idiot by default" I will add in my preemptive defense that I personally use ramdisk to avoid disc congestion when I operate four concurrent sessions of Metatrader 4 during backtesting as my logs files are setup to be written to hundreds if not thousands of times per second and doing so becomes the rate limiting step during the backtest run.

In my case a ramdisk was a very simple to implement solution to negate this particular performance bottleneck.

Thanks IDC, as for the other person, I'm asking for recommendations on software not your opinion which didn't even address the question whatsoever. If you're unable to provide an answer, why even answer.

Well that's a harsh paraphrase, but mostly true.

And you'll notice that I said "generally", meaning that there are valid use cases for a RAM disk although they're rare. In your case, if you don't care about those logs and the software is incapable of disabling their creation then, yes, a RAM disk is a valid band-aid for that problem. Although you should probably submit a feature request that lets you disable the logs in the long term.

Because most of the time a RAM drive is a bad answer and telling us the actual problem that you're trying to solve will likely lead to a better answer.

I'll repeat what I said yet again, I'm asking for recommendations on a software, not opinions if it's a good idea. That's it, that's all...

Since you're so hesitant to explain what you're trying to accomplish I'll rephrase my response as a recommendation for None. The default filesystem caching done by the OS is good enough and more appropriate for just about all workloads.

No need for you to post here then, regardless, up to you.

I recommend that if you ask a bunch of people to take their time to give you FREE help, you simply ignore any recommendations that you don't want to hear.

Of course, if only that person actually did provide a recommendation base on what was asked.

People ask questions like that because they are trying to politely determine if you have any idea what you are doing.

I repeat:

Guys, you are both elite members (RebateMonger and Nothinman), that means at some point you already well-proved your ability to help others as well as your persistent desire to do so.

But that also means you both should know that people's receptiveness to your efforts in assisting them decreases the more your post conveys a tone of talking over them, at them, or even possibly deriding them.

And since I think we can safely assume your motives are noble (the pursuit of helping others) that means I would also think it is safe to assume you want to know this and you want this kind of feedback so as to better enable yourselves to serve those you wish to serve.

You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. The posts by both of you in this thread are distasteful in my eye, waaaay too much vinegar here folks. Sweeten it up a bit, try and not take the stance that the OP is an idiot by default. And try and understand why deriding them after possibly insulting them is not exactly a super great way to help them.

We know your intentions are good, elite membership doesn't come from cracker jack boxes, but your methods are undermining your efforts.

(this type of post would ordinarily be a pm, but the OP deserves some closure in my mind and by making this plea to you both in public I hope it increases the chances of the OP gaining some)

If you think this is bad you should talk to me in person...
