Well I'v been using RAM Disk when processing video and pictures and it's fast! I do need to invest in a SSD..

If you build a Hackintosh desktop, you can get 24 gigs of RAM for $190 right now. Professional graphics artists often use a 10 or 16 gig RAMdisk for project files so that they load pretty quickly. Although with SSD's, you're getting 250 read/250 write on the newer Sandforce-based models, and if you RAID those up, you can max out the bus if you've got the bucks. It all comes down to money 😛
