RAM dilemma

Folks, I need some suggestions if you would be so kind.

I have an Intel 800 MHz(EB) CPU and an ASUS CUSL2 mobo and the other necessary
pieces of hardware for a new system I am building with the exception of RAM.

I am considering purchasing one 128 MB DIMM, either Mushkin's High Performance hand-picked revision 2 PC-133 CAS 2 or Mushkin/EMS PC-150 2-3-2 HSDRAM.

Any suggestions on which I should purchase?

Any OTHER suggestions or comments?

There's really no dilemma. With an EB p3 you prolly dont plan to OC, b/c you cant pump that fsb up al that much. Therefore go with the PC133 b/c you wont use the PC150's power. Unless you plan to overclock, then get the PC150... Good luck!!

Which one is cheaper? It doesn't really matter which RAM that you get....if you do plan to overclock, you get peace of mind with the PC150 HSDRAM knowing that it is guaranteed for that speed....but then with the CUSL2 you can run the RAM and FSB asynchronously, so it doesn't matter if you get the PC133 SDRAM either.

Thanks Cryptic and Andy:

You are correct Cryptic that I purchased the 133 MHz version of the PIII 800 because
I don't intend to overclock; I would have purchased the 100 MHz variety if that were my
intention.

Andy, the price difference is only about $1. I'm just wondering which would have the
lowest latency and greatest stability....

EB = 133mhz fsb
therefore you need to have PC133+ RAM

If you don't intend to oc then you need PC133, if you do get 150
Either will work nicely in your system.

If PC133 is run at cas 2 and the pc150 is run at cas 2 at 133mhz it is the same thing.

If you buy PC100 RAM your motherboard ust support -33 mhz fsb setting for the ram, and this would also lower your ram proformance, so it's really not recommended unless you have PC100 and you want to use it....

GET THE MUSHKIN PC133 CAS 2

good luck!

If you're not going to overclock, i'd go for Mushkin high perf. rev. 1.5 (rev 2 is more expensive because it's almost sure it will do at least 150@2-2-2) The rev. 1.5 is the same thing(2-2-2), except it might not go as high... Don't get pc150, as it's not rated as 2-2-2, and is only useful if you plan on OC'ing your FSB higher than 150.

Thanks everyone! Sugardaddy, you helped answer another question that was on my mind, that is, about Mushkin's High Performance Revision 1.5 DIMMs. As long as they can do CAS 2-2-2 at FSB of 133 MHz, I could live with it. After all, it's about $30 per 128 MB cheaper... Thanks for the "food for thought"!... Greg
