Hi, I have been having some trouble with my computer lately. Any help/insight on the source of the problem would be greatly appreciated.

When I attempt to start Windows, I get a massive Blue Screen of Death (tm). The errors are KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED with win32k.sys as the file in question and also PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA also with win32k.sys as the file. These two screens happen at about just the same frequency. When I tried to install windows XP, I got the following error: File setupdd.sys could not be loaded. The error code is 7.

I have tried to resolve the situation through the following methods:
-Different Motherboard
-Reformat / FDISK hard drive
-NTFS and FAT32 file systems
-Installing Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, and XP
-Different Hard drive
-Different IDE cables
-Different IDE Channels for the HD and CD-ROM (many combinations between 2 CD-ROMs, a HD, and a ZIP drive)
-Newest BIOS / drivers (4 in 1)
-Old BIOS
-Reinstall Windows (not from CD)
-Scandisk / chkdsk surface scans
-Multiple BIOS settings changes
-Increase in core voltage
-Clock up/down CPU and RAM speeds
-Safe Mode (ha =)

Here is my computer configuration:
-ABIT KR7A (non-RAID)
-300 Watt PS
-AMD TBird 1.33 GHz
-512 MB Crucial DDR RAM (256x2)
-30 GB IBM Deskstar 7200 rpm HD
-Plextor 12x/10x/32x CD-RW
-ASUS 8x DVD ROM
-Internal ZIP 250
-Creative SoundBlaster Live! MP3+
-Elsa Gladiac GeForce 2 PRO
-3COM NIC
-Floppy Drive (woohoo! =)

My guess (semi-educated) is that the RAM is crapping out. Any tips/confirmation of my theory/bad news would be welcome at this point. I just want to know what the hell is going on. Thanks in advance.

So exactly which operating system is causing the prob?

If you are currently trying Win2k, try a repair. Press f8 at 1st sign of the windows start bar. It should say something to that effect on the bottom of the screen.

Also abouth the only thing I can see you haven't done is...
Replace RAM
Remove PCI cards and try again
Latest service pack for whatever OS

I just recovered from what seems to be the same problem as you, but I was runing WinXP on an Asus CUSL2.
I still have no eff'ing clue what went wrong, out of no where I started getting BSOD while in Windows, then one day I got that BSOD during boot up and that's when my 5 days of torment began.

Eventually what I did was I got a new mobo and swapped it in. At first I got that same BSOD when windows was loading. I had to reformat the whole drive and do a fresh install before I managed to get back up and running.

All I can say is try switching your ram if you haven't already... and try the power supply. If those two are not at fault, then give the mobo one more look over and try switching it again, but use a clean hd.

Let me know if you have any luck, I'm curious as what may be the problem for you may have been for me also

Good Luck!
