RAM cooler - OCZ XTC cooler

Tim

I was able to make use of it without the thumb-screw. If I recal correctly it even comes with other screws. It is kind of a pain to get it on however without the thumb screw to help out. Good luck!

Lmao, I thought I had the specs in my sig.. Anyway I'm using a DFI LP UT P35 T2R. The board design is perilously bad when it comes to RAM/PCI-E location.. The GPU lies so close to the RAM retention clips that I can't take out or install memory (push down the bottom clips) without removing the graphics card.. I'm afraid the metal of the cooler clips will at least contact and short out the bottom of the graphics card PCB..

"I like the pretty lights."

I still don't know why so many enthusiast products still come in blue LED only. I don't like blue LEDs. They're cliche.

Yeah, makes the setup look really cheap. Thankfully my case has no window :)

Anywho, someone at XS tried the cooler on the same board and it appears even with the flat head screws the thing will not work with a GPU in the first slot, ah well.

Leave the screw off. The top one should be enough to hold it in place so long as you don't move your computer about. I actually was just about to post in this thread again. I just saw a thread called tigerstyle on XS with a custom painted ocz ram cooler and it's gorgeous, go look it up.

Can the thumb screw be substituted with a smaller flatter one? Due to the design of my motherboard the thumbscrew would make it impossible to install the graphics card (PCB is several millimeters away from the retention clips). Otherwise what would be a recommended RAM cooler?

I know it is a couple of days late but it does come with two types of screws flat head and thumb screw. Use the flat head in the tight area and the thumb screw in the open area. Link

Personally it is a big risk to take leaving the screw off. One I would never chance.

I get next week a CORSAIR CMXAF1 cooler for my rams, also Corsair :p I only get it to test if the stability of the ram increases due to lower temps. Is this better than the XTC cooler? I get it for about 10$ if i want to keep it, is it worth having these extra buzzers?

To be more on-topic, what bothers me with extra ram coolers is that they tend to mess up the push-pull of the cpu airflow. Is it that much of an influence? I haven't tested ram coolers yet, as i said before, my first ram cooler arrives next week.
