some demystification and advice would be appreciated.
Plan for 2x2GB Ram modules PC6400 DDR2.
Options to choose between:
Patriot C4 Extreme Performance [4-4-12]:
£117

OCZ SLi approved [4-4-15]:
£80

There are also Corsair modules at the same prices [looking at Microdirect and Aria as they are local] as well as Patriot CL5 modules same price as the OCZ.

Which would you recommend and why?

Going into a GBX38 mobo with either E6750 or Q6600...

That's quite a big price difference but if it's of no matter then go for those that have the lowest latencies naturally.

IMHO, no....go with the less expensive memory. For most real world usage, you won't notice the difference in latencies. There are a few forum posts here and elsewhere that pretty much show that you might gain +/- 3-5% max, which in my mind isn't worth the cost.

Of course, if you can get good CAS 4 RAM for the same price as CAS 5, then go for the CAS 4. I just don't think paying extra is worth it.
