RAM Compatibility

I'm looking at upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 and I've got a feeling that my 2gb of RAM should probably be upgraded at the same time.

I'm running this RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-167-_-Product
Which is no longer available at any online or local retailers I'm comfortable using.

A friend of mine suggested that I go ahead and pick up 2gb of this RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145201
which is obviously a different speed.

Frankly, neither of us is positive of the compatibility here, but we both believe that this RAM should run well together, just at the slower speed. I wanted to check here to see if we're even right about that and if so, if it would pick up the lower speed and correct itself or if that's something I'd want to setting myself (and if so how careful I'd have to be about making sure to set them properly...i.e. if I forget to check will this bite me later).

Also, if you have an alternative to suggest I'm open to hearing it. I don't know a heck of a lot about RAM, but I figured that it would make the most sense to get the exact same RAM I already have rather than mixing two different manufacturers or speeds. I'd primarily like to keep the RAM upgrade cost to a minimum because I'm already going to be spending on the Operating System and a new hard drive and the RAM is more of an insurance policy in case I need it. I haven't had any memory issues to date so I don't really know if its even necessary.

If you need other info about my build the motherboard I'm using is: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R Intel Core 2 Duo (Desktop) Socket 775 1333MHz PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066) ATX Motherboard and I have a Q6600 quad core Intel processor. I don't think you need any other parts info.

Thanks in advance.
