ram compatibility with dimension 9150

I wanted to buy this ram = 1GB (1x1GB) DDR2 667 PC2 5400 RAM. is it compatible with my system?

I have a 945 motherboard with 4 slots for ram: ( 2 slots already filled with 667mhz 512mb each of ram per slot). that leaves 2 slots free. after i install the 1gb of ram i will have a total of 3 slots full with total 2gb ram

current specs:
intel 820 dual core @ 2.8ghz
1gb ram (2x512mb @667mhz)
2 hdds
945 motherboard
x1900xt

You will lose dual channel mode. I'd pick up another 2x512MB.

If you lose dual channel, you'll see a performance decrease.

he wont lose dual channel. i've run a system with 1gb on one channel and 2gb on another, while still maintaining dual channel mode. maybe it depends on the motherboard if others have witnessed otherwise.

That would be true for an AMD based system, but Intel cpu's utilize dual channel memory mode much more so.

The system only has 1GB, but I remember testing my 2GB kit in there while the 1GB was still installed. Since I'm at work, I cant double check. But a quick look at my mobo manual revealed...

* For dual-channel configuration (3), you may:
# install identical DIMMs in all four sockets, or
# install identical DIMMs in DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1 (blue sockets)
and identical DIMMs in DIMM_A2 and DIMM_B2 (black sockets)

While it doesn't mention any restriction on memory module size, I still recall being able to run 1GB in one channel, and 2GB in the other. So, I'll try it when I get home.

I still fail to see how that would work in dual channel.

I would go with 4x512, or 2x512MB and 2x1GB.
