My System(Its a laptop, i7 3630, Plextor M3 128 SSD) Currently has 32gb of ram it was cheap and naturally a lot is not being utilized.

So with Ram Caching being used on newer SSDs I have had my eye on Plextor's "Plex Turbo" and Samsung's "RAPID"

Price as of today:Samsung Drive is 197.99 and The Plextor Drive is 156.99

There really isn't much comparison on Ram caching
Both SSDs are close on SSD benchmarks so both SSDs are good performers.

The only website I found to compare Samsung's RAPID vs Plexturbo is

I don't know if the Samsung is $41 better.

They are both fast drives, you're unlikely to notice the difference.
Although i'm not familiar with "RAPID vs Plexturbo"
plextor isn't bad quality.
850 pro is the performance leader, that's where the premium comes from.

You could choose to uninstall RAPID, and using even mixed SSDs and HDDs, have the ability to cache several drives in RAM, or to create an "L2" SRT-type layer with a 60GB SSD, all caching a 4TB HDD or an array.

The software isn't as slick or multi-functional, but it seems reliable and gets the job done:

Primo-Cache from Romex Software [HQ: Shanghai]
Super-Cache from SuperSpeed LLC, [HQ: Massachusetts]

Both softwares are block-level caching programs. Super-Cache leads to the same performance benchies, but lacks several features of the Primo-CAche program. The Super-Cache folks want you to give them the "machine-name" of whichever LAN client has Super-Cache installed.

For the price of one Super-Cache license, you can get a 3-PC license from Romex. The Romex software allows you to allow "lazy writes" or do write-caching. The Superspeed software simply doesn't allow for it: and only does read-caching. So the Superspeed folks are "Certified Microsoft Partner."

The Romex software has a 90-day trial period. in about 40 more days, I'm going to spring for the 3-PC version.

Samsung RAPID is pretty nutso, yeah. But the numbers aren't typically very consistent.

I don't really notice it in regular use though.

^ Well it basically caches things that are used a lot, so new tasks you will not notice anything.

I was about to buy a new SSD drive but I am still wondering if I should upgrade my 2 year old SSD, I dont know if Id see any benefit.

I was going to get a bigger SSD for when I reformat but I might hold onto my 128 for a bit longer (I got a 750gb HDD as well)
