Ram Bandwidth Hogs?! (pg/sec NOT bytes)

Often times, I have noticed unusual delays in my system's response for seemingly negligable tasks (opening word for example). I've checked my ram usage and i'm only using 400MB out of 2GB on board. CPU usage at the time is around 5-10% max.

I then open up the performance viewer and find that my ram loading (pages/sec) is MAXED! I've tried closing programs one at a time but can't tell what is causing this to happen.

I have a few questions:
1. How could this be happening?
2. What can I do to fix this problem?
3. Is there a program out there that monitors ram load per application?

Thanks for your time and help in advance!

I want to point out that the amount of memory used (bytes) is not growing when this happens. There are times when I'm only using 20% of my ram storage capacity, BUT the ram bandwidth/load stays maxed at 100% for extended periods of time. It's as if a program has the memory crunching on something while not increasing in the amount of memory needed for the application.

I hope that clarifies my first statement.

Any Suggestions?

According to http://searchwinit.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,290660,sid1_gci213633,00.html

A memory leak is the gradual loss of available computer memory when a program (an application or part of the operating system) repeatedly fails to return memory that it has obtained for temporary use.

I too also have this problem on my laptop, t42.

As far as i can tell it is due to Firefox, at that time i thought hey i need more ram so i bought another 512MB. But i still get the issue :(

Also sometimes i have notice that major slow downs and look at my memory and have 500MB left to be used but some reason my page file use says over 1.5GB meaning that those other 700MB is being accessed from the hard-drive and i do notice my HD light blinking away. It is insane bug that always fixes it self when i close firefox.

SO weird why would firefox not use the rest of the ram and instead start using the page file???
