Ram and Asus Boards - I'm boggled

I was wondering....

Now people here seem to really like the OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 Dual Channel Gold VX Ram but always go with the DFI landparty board for configurations. Both that and the Asus AN8 support SLI which most of the setups incorporate but is there some reasons people always insist on the landparty board for using this type of Ram? I read somewhere it was about power consumption of the RAM and it was only availably with that board but I'm not sure. Either way, if someone could educate me on this and why it works out like this, I'd be able to go to bed happy to know I learned something rather than have sat on my ass all day. Thanks in advance.

VX RAM requires obscene amounts of voltage to get to high speeds with low latencies and for now only the DFI board can deliver those voltages.

So assuming I cant get a land party board as I already have an AN8, which type of ram would give me the best preformance?
