Hello, Fred.

Firstly, I would like to know the Motherboad Model number. There are different motherboards which have "Intel Z77 Chipset" and the memory specifications differs with each of 'em. So if you could provide me with the motherboard model number that would be really helpful!!

Okay. Here is the thing about ECC and Non-ECC memory. ECC (Error correction Code) memory will detect and correct any memory errors while the system is running. It is mainly used in server environments where operation is critical. Non-ECC memory does not contain any error correcting circuitry. In reality, memory errors are rare so going with non-parity is the best choice for home or office use if your motherboard takes both ECC and non-ECC memory.

You need a Xeon, or certain i3 CPUs to utilize ECC RAM. Plus, you need a motherboard that also supports it.

Be careful, there are different types of ECC RAM - unbuffered, registered, and FB-DIMM.

Hello, Fred.

Thank you for your reply.

Well, the first thing you need to know about your motherboard is that, it does not support ECC Memory. So that eliminates the ECC memory worry.

Your motherboard supports "DDR3 2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory"

It supports a max memory of 32GB. It has 4 slots and max per slot is 8GB.

You can find the memory for this Motherboard in the following sites - Memorystock.com, Crucial.com

As for the PSU, Minimum power requirement you need is 460W but Asus recommends to go higher watts PSU. You can check the following links and go with the one you need.

The coolermaster PSU is officially recommended by Asus. But any of the above will do.

Let me know if you need any more information. Good luck with the PC upgrade!! ():)

Dude, he doesn't need anywhere near that for his build. Even Asus (who is known for exaggerating what one needs) doesn't go near that.

Dang, and I thought I was going a little overboard recommending a 600.

Thank you all, i have decided no madder what for a home scenario there is no need for ECC, Im still unsure as to which would be better 1333 or 1600 but i think 1600 is the better choice. Either way the ECC worry is eliminated and thanks to you all for helping me out.

Also it might be nice of me to add i want to add a second video card after a month or 2 just dont have the cash now, so i think ill go a little bigger on my PSU as i want to upgrade some more soon.

two 4 GB sticks to utilize dual channel, but leave slots for future upgrades.
