what im really wanting is one of these cheap wifi-n adapters that install natively (without internet support). even if it only installs in G mode at first, then you have to go get the real drivers once youre on, thats fine.

it really defeats the purpose of convenience when you have to scramble to find and get a way to get the driver installed.

The other deals were all Realtek RTL8191SU chipset. This one is different.

Premiertek PT-H5DN-2770
$12.99 with free shipping

1T 2R MIMO
300Mbps receive
B/G/N
5dBi detachable antenna
2.4GHz only (no 5GHz)
Ralink RT2720 chipset

In case someone wants a cheap but probably decent USB WiFi-N adapter, but don't want the Realtek chipset...

What's wrong with the Realtek N chipset? All of my el-cheapo N adapters are Ralink, so I assumed that was the lowest common denominator.

My buddy has a Belkin N 300 USB wifi adapter, and had to resort to NDISWRAPPER in Linux to get it to work. Even then, it doesn't work all the time.
