I can't say that I'm surprised by this announcement and wish him the best. With that said nobody is a one man army and AMD will continue to march forward without him. I'm really curious to see how their partnership with Intel works out.

This makes me wonder if Nirvana was a code word for the custom AMD designed (gp)gpu that will be on the emib package.

The plot thickens and I wonder if this was the plan all along. He would be instrumental with Intel's integration of the radeon technology and would still have strong ties to AMD promoting effective collaboration. I also wonder if this move was to head off any potential anti-trust suits.
