i read in a thread something about higher end video cards producing better frame rates with AA and AF on higher settings. How true is this, and if u can explain how it works please do.
If you're talking about the thread about SLI and the guy's 6800GT's getting lower FPS in Far Cry... then going back to normal when he turned on 4XAA and 8XAF... that has more to do with the way SLI works and how it splits the workload.
so then i wont get better fps if i turn AA and AF on?
i remember seeing one guy say, something about turning those things on opens or frees a bottleneck or something.. im just trying to make sure so i can get the best out of my card.
At lower resolutions a game can be more cpu-intensive than gpu, so putting AA/AF on puts it back on the video card. In some cases this means increased performance, but if you are running at that low of resolution on a new video card, then you have other issues to attend to
