Raising/lowering TV wall mount

Hi everyone,

Not directly an HTPC question, but somewhat related. I was wondering if anyone knew of any wall mounts that would let me raise and lower my TV along the wall. I'm moving into a new apartment this coming weekend, and I'll likely want/need to wall mount my TV in order to make everything fit well.

Given the layout, I was thinking of finding a TV wall mount that would let me pull the TV down and forward for viewing, but then tuck it up towards the ceiling when not in use (the ceilings are ~9ft high). I can easily find lots of wall mounts that allow side-to-side motion, but not many that have the capability to lift. I understand that the mechanism is likely much more involved.

It's not a great necessity, but I was wondering if they exist and, if so, where I might be able to find one.

Thanks in advance!

Edit I just realized that this should likely have been in the Audio/Video & Home Theater forum. If a mod would be to kind as to move it, I would be grateful. :)

You should mention the size of the TV if you are talking about mounting it. I dont know if they have a mount like that or not.

40", 55", 60"

One issue I would see is you also would have to raise and lower Electricity and maybe cables etc. I think I remember seeing some mounts with a kind of arm that moves up and down. However the movement was not a serverE range of height.

This was from an old post.

I was just thinking about something totally wild, but you may think I am crazy. I was envisioning one of those basketball backboards that can move up and down. It might be kind of nutty but it might work.

Here is another link with diagrams.

With things that move like this I always wonder how long it takes to ware out.

You're right, I totally forgot to mention the size of TV. It's a 42" LCD TV.

Thanks for the link. The mounts on that site are pretty much what I was thinking of, but slightly more than I was hoping to pay ($500 is a bit steep.... D:).

There is probably something else out there like a pole mount. I think on the surface the Idea of the pole with a basketball mount that moves up and down could be kind of interesting. I have seen some kits for taking something like an old half chest of drawers or a dining room side table and making the TV come up through the top but that would not save much space.
