i dont get it. anytime i search youtube for a music video half the results is some homemade anime music video. how does this appeal to someone????

It appeals to anime fans. For example, the anime, "Initial D" contains a lot of scenes (mostly driving) which you describe.
edit: I guess you were referring to "homemade" ones on youtube. The example I describe contain Japanese pop songs.

Initial D should never be put to any music but Eurobeat. Anything else, and you're as bad as Tokyo pop including rap into the "Tricked Out Version."
