Does anyone remeber the song Little Fighterby White Lion? Well I remember in the liner notes for the album, that song was dedicated to the Rainbow Warrior. I just rememberd this actually cause I was listening to the song and it came to me. I did some searching and can't find anything about him/her. Does anyone know who this is/was?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Rainbow warrior? That was a greenpeace ship blown up by the evil French in New Zealand. The frogeaters didn't like that people objected to them nuking in the pacific ocean.

They didn't blow it up? Anyway the whole business with the nuclear testing and the Rainbow warrior was a big scandal and many shops here in Sweden boycotted French food for a long time. If they wanted to test nukes they should have done it in their own friggin country :|

Yes, I remember that...

But didn't some people die... I vaguely recall this,

With the history of the French in battle, I wouldn't have thought they'd have the guts to attack a brownie troop, let alone an international organization. I don't think they'd have done it if Greenpeace was supported by the Germans!

I think 3 people died... anybody remember this?

Why do the French need nuclear weapons? I thought that their potent B.O. was one of the most heinous biological weapons on the face of the earth.

I don't think anyone was hurt on the Rainbow Warrior, but I could be wrong. I thought the whole episode was rather amusing though. I am not a fan of Greenpeace. I am, however, an environmentalist to a large degree.

DaBoneHead: Check the history of the French Foreign Legion (La Legion Etrangere) before you critisize the French in battle. Also, have you forgotten about a little man named Napoleon? He just managed to conquer most of Europe. Granted, their performance in WWII was not the best, but if the US military had been in their place, they would have been wiped off the battlefield even faster (in 1940).

KingHam: Actually, the French aren't all that bad in that regard (I lived there for awhile). The Germans, however, are. It's impossible to stereotype, but there were more Germans who are, um -- pungent?, than French from my brief encounters.

The Rainbow Warrior was blown up and if I recall two people were killed. ( I am a New Zealander and remember the incident well, although the details are alittle hazy, it was some time ago. )

I remember seing Mitterand on tv trying to justify the testing. I have never ever seen anybody being so arrogant as he was. I used to be a francophile, but after that I'm somewhat sceptic towards them.

You've got things mixed up Kabelogo, the French did blow up the Rainbow Warrior, & a photographer was killed in the process - a hole 8 feet wide was blowen in the steel hull. It was the yacht that the French used to smuggle the explosives from New Caledonia to New Zealand, that was scuttled.

Well the New Zealander cought 2 people involved & some deal was made so they could serve out their sentence in some French base in Tahiti & in exchange the French agreed to import so many million pounds of butter from New Zealand for the next 50 years Consequently in every French super market you can buy New Zealand butter. Well so the storey goes.

I remember over here in the States, there was a protest going on near a submarine base. I want to say it was Greenpeace again, but I am not positive about that. In any event, they were trying to block the exit of nuclear submarines from the base, and an attack boat left and submerged, accidentally taking one of their ships down with it because it had snagged the anchor or something like that.

I don't remember if anyone was hurt, but wouldn't that be a surprise if your boat all of a sudden started going lower and lower and lower...
