Ok, I narrowed the problem down to video related issues.

First of all, I have XP Pro w/ SP1 and DX9.0 with an Nvidia GF2 DDR running Detonator 43.30 drivers

I installed Raven Shield yesterday and was propted to install DirectX 9.0. I said "yes"

After install the game video settings were pre-configed for "best" textures, lighting and shadows and 800x600 - I went with the defaults.

In the 1st Training Excercise I pressed "5" which was bound to the Night Vision Goggles and instantly my PC rebooted!

XP generated the usual report that says it can't determine the root of the issue but it was driver related.

Anyone else experienced this with DX 9.0, XP or Raven Shield?

Thanks,

I don't know if this will help you or not, but here goes. I also had trouble with ghost recon and a few others. It was ghost recon 2 though. I also have a nivida card and windowsxp pro. My motherboard (IWILL) used a "VIA" chipset. I switched motherboards (non VIA chipset) and all my problems went away. I don't know exacty what was wrong with this combination, but I no longer have any issues and thats the only thing I changed. My pc would re-boot as well and I had all the latest drivers for everything. Let me know if this helps you.

Umm.. dude.. RS R6 needs at least a P3 600 and GEforce 2. You barely match and pass the requirements

On top of that you got a Via KX133 Chipset.
I got a P3 600 with 256 MB and GF2ti500 64MB and the games is fine at medium setting and 800x600.

Get new VIA drivers and you should not have installed Direct X 9.

Install directx 9.0a as stated above. Install the nvidia 43.03 drivers, the feedback on this driver is very positive from various sites. You should goto raven-shield.com and read the tech support forum there. This problem is NOT uncommon, many people have experienced this problem since the MP demo, it happened to me on the 1.1 MP demo, pissed me off cause it rebooted my PC 4 times in under an hour, and occured mostly when people got shot at or during intense close range shooting. People that own a 2.8ghz p4 and radeon 9700 pro users have been affected as well so don't think you system is the problem if you get tons of critical error or system crashes while playing this game but everything else works fine. The only solution UBI has thus far is to low the resolution to 800x600 and disable EAX along with setting bullet wounds to medium, basically there's no fix yet and that's pretty sad considering the demo has been out since last november. This game is probably flawed with poor overall coding thus causing major errors like system cashes.

Ahhh, you were all correct.

The game runs champion now without the interruption of my PC resetting :)

I grabbed a copy of Detonator Destroyer (1.2) and completely removed my Detonator 43.30 drivers. Then searched the reg for any instance on the word GeForce and deleted any keys relative to the old drivers. Then I rebooted and installed the latest version of the Creative drivers (based on 41.90 Detonator drivers).

Game runs amazing now! I run it at 1024x768 with the top settings and all the details (including EAX). I tried incessantly to recreate the lil' reboot feature but can't seem to. I even went so far as to run the game at 1280x1024 but it just lags too much for solid manoeverability.

Thanks folks,

This game rocks!
