I am wondering how the Raidmax power supplies are, bcoz i can get a 700W one of those at a decent price, how is the 12v rails on them and the power to the 3.3v, 5v, 12v rails i need to ensure its consistent accurate power

What model is it and how much are you going to get it for? Raidmax has a really bad rep for cheap PSUs. They do have some decent units but for the most part they are cheap POSs. So it all depends on what model your looking at.

Im not too sure on that either man, i wish i actually took a look at it, but i know for a fact they arent the best brand out there, but i was even looking at the Thermaltake tough power 550W and want to know if i will be able to use that till i get my next pc or if it will actually be a waste, because right now i have a real piece of crap that came with my old case, the superchannel 500W, its terrible, but want summin that will last me even if i upgrade, so like what power output would i need to sustain like a Core2 Quad,Mobo, 2 x Sata2, 1 x IDE, and like an 8800 GT, thats the card im getting the end of the month, so what total output would i need for that kind of system? would 550W be enough and what would the limitations on hardware be because of that?

The thermaltake is a pretty good PSU and will support an upgrade to the 8800GT. It will even support a quad core system with that same video card.

Really? I can't think of a single Raidmax powersupply that I would even spent $50 on....that includes their alter ego Sigma

Decent doesn't imply good or even that you should consider it. I'm just saying they have put in an effort to improve there product line. But they still use very cheap parts.

Are you guys kidding me? Maybe you guys are looking at old, old versions of their power supplies. The one i just bought was very well built. Every wire i could see was insulated. 135mm fan blows tons of air. Heavy as hell too. I've bought tons of cheepo PSU's and it was nothing like the others. It provides more than enough consistent power for my uses.

Its been a really good PSU.

I should hope so. Wires without insulation causes shorts. ;)

That's not good. It should suck in air. ;)

Seriously, though...

Tell tale signs that this PSU is not "the best"? No power factor correction and no+12V combined rating on the label.

That particular unit is an Andyson. Andyson makes a full range of product from entry level to performance. This is one of the entry level units.

To be specific, it's an Andyson AD-5520N2-08 and it's a 500W power supply, not a 530W. It's not even 530W peak, it's 520W peak. And not even Andyson lists the combined +12V rating on this PSU.

So you got what you paid for. ;) At least it's better than a Deer/Allied or a Codegen or a Powmax. :D

While some Raidmax cases are decent, the power supplies are notorious for failing.

Scholzpdx: I bet my Fortron 350W will last longer than your Raidmax.
