RAID1 setup... can I simply add another drive to an existing single drive?

I want to do a 2x250GB RAID1. Right now I have a 250GB SATA Maxtor drive with all my stuff on it. Could I simply add another formatted 250GB drive and configure it to work as RAID1? That would be sweeeeeet.

Someone please help out quick! I have a potential buyer for one of my drives... so I gotta let him know ASAP if I'm keeping it or not. Thanks!

yes, you should be able to add a second drive if you're making raid 1 (mirroring). in the raid setup, you'll most likely be asked to choose a drive to mirror, and the destination drive to mirror it to, and then you should be good to go 😀

Might depend on the raid controller too, but the ASUS board I have lets you add a mirrored drive (RAID1) after you've setup the single drive.
