raid1 on both sata and ide, possible?

which motherboard and chipset supports raid1 for any type of hard drives, of any size?
I know nforce4 sli has a JBOD mode that supports raid across IDE and SATA drives.

what about others, and what about size mismatch?

nForce3 RAID can be across all drives in the system, both IDE and SATA -- you can have RAID10 across both drive types.

As far as different drive sizes, I think this is determined when you first create the array how big each drive needs to be. A larger drive can be added to the array later (with wasted space) or used as a hot spare, but not a smaller one. Maybe JBOD doesn't have this restriction, not sure.

This is not highly technical. Read the rules at the top of the forum.

If you wanted to know exactly how RAID works then that would qualify.
