Would 2 Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9's in hardware RAID0 be faster then a single 36 GB Raptor?

Maybe hardware rAID 0 could make the difference but I doubt it.

Although the first gen 36 gig raptors were slow compared to their big brothers. That issue has since been fixed.

And a single 74Gb raptor, will beat 2x36 Raptors in RAID0... the 74 is "Raptor2" of the raptors; it's much different inside than the older 36's. It's desktop performance is up about 40%; and no about of raided 36's is going to even match that :D

d'oh! yes the 36 would be slower and louder. Do you already have these drives or is this hypothetical?

halfadder, read the link I posted above. It's the same one DaveSimmons described. Not "Zoom!" Just the sound of you flushing $150 down the drain for no performance gain. Don't tell your buddy, he'll get mad or depressed. Maybe both.
