raid

i was thinking about getting the asus k7v kt133a to use its ide raid 0 capability, but i was wondering (cause i think i read this somewhere with regards to ide raid itself, not the asus k7v) if the hds must be on different channels and other ide devices cannot operate while the raid is active, can anyone clarify for me? thanks in advance, i appreciate any help.
