raid?
Ok i am getting two 250 Gig sata 7200 RPM hard drives...should i raid them? If so what config?

Basically will mainly be storage...all personal data of mine is backed up to a network hard drive. These are going in a gaming machine...so i want the quickest load possible...i would liked to use all 500 GB inless there is a super speed increase in not....i know i can mirror them etc... but they will basically be used for mass storage and gaming ... web design dreamweaver, possiable DVD storage also.

If you want fastest load time possible, you want RAID 0 (Striping). Just be aware that RAID 0 doubles your odds of suffering data loss due to a hard drive crash. There is no redundancy whatsoever with RAID 0. A failure of either drive will result in the loss of ALL data.

If you backup your important data to a server regularly then that's a risk you can probably live with.

Be aware that RAID 0 will not dramatically improve load times (it halve you load times) but it will make a difference. Access times are usually the same, but large files (games like HL2 for instance) will load quicker.
