My new computer:
Asus A7V266-E with RAID and Sound
GF3 Ti200
Dual WD 60BG 5400 RPM's
TB 1.33
512 DDR RAM

Now heres the problem:

My main BIOS dosent see my disk array, my Promise Fasttrak BIOS does, and Windows XP setup dosent. So I cant setup XP. The Promise BIOS says the array is 'functional'. Both the drives are fresh from the box, no data. Help!

So you formed an array in the Fasttrak BIOS right?

and then:

BIOS not seeing it, that's normal.
Fasttrak BIOS sees it, that's good.
Windows XP setup doesn't, that needs to change.

There's a point in the XP setup at which you can press F6 to load third party drivers (ex: SCSI, IDE controllers, RAID controllers included) 🙂. (should be a blue DOS like screen, there should be a grey stripe running along the bottom of the screen with quickly changing messages about things being loaded, there should be at least a minor pause before it goes about loading, for you to hit F6)
I believe it wants you to point it to a floppy disk with XP drivers for the Fasttrak controller.

You should be able to partition and format the array from within the XP setup program.

This mignt be a dumb question, but did you set one as a slave and the other a master? If so are they on the same ribbon?

Yeah, I formed an arry in the Fast Trak BIOS

And I dont have any drivers for the thing on a floppy... maybe I should get some, huh? cuz I do se that screen

There both masters on different cables

ok, i put the updated Promise drivers on a disk that i got from Asus's site, but now it says "txtsetup.oem" cannot be found!

?? Help ??

Did you get to this part? I cannot tell from your last reply.

Did you leave all the folders the same way that they unzip? After you unzip the raid drivers they have to be put on the floppy the same way they unzipped. With your XP setup not seeing the raid...You did fdisk and format your drives after setting it up in the promise bios didn't you? You didn't mention that.

XP home edition won't do SOFTWARE RAID, hardware RAID it will do, as long as the drivers are compatible.
