Here's a question for you RAID gurus. I have a two SATA 74GB Western Digital Raptors in a RAID-0 array controlled by the on-board nForce RAID controller. I want to create a RAID-0 array with four parallel 120GB Western Digital Caviars in the same case.

PROBLEM: I purchased a 4-channel RAID host controller, the Promise Fasttrak SX4000, but could not successfully get both the on-board nForce controller and Promise controller to work simultaneously. I troubleshooted the problem with Promise and the best they could do is recommend that I use one RAID controller at a time. Is it possible to keep my exisiting array controlled by the on-board controller and add a new host adapter to create a new array? If so, please let me know your experiences with this storage setup. If not, please share any other potential storage solutions so that I may still use my 4 WD1200JB drives.

SETUP:
AMD 64 FX 53
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
2GB Corsair RAM
(2) 74GB WD Raptors SATA in a RAID-0 array controlled by the on-board nForce RAID controller
(4) 120GB WD Caviars PATA
