RAID with 2 different drive manufacturers?

Ok, heres the deal....

I have 2 HD's, an IBM 60GXP ( which has given me any problems up till now....) 40 gigs and a Maxtor 40GB drive. The thing i want to do is put them together in a nice, fast RAID 0 array. I have got to get a controller card, as my mobo doesnt support it, but before that, I wanted to know whether using these two drives could lead to problems.... ( not talking about 60GXP fails). I have noticed that though both drives are rated at 40 GB, I think there is a difference of maybe 50-100 MB between the drives. Will this be a problem for RAID 0? All the stuff i've looked at says that the data is plit equally between the 2 drives.... So what is done when the drive sizes differ???

You shouldn't have any problems. I did this once. I had a similar situation before, where I had a 60gig IBM and 40gig Maxtor. The 60gig drive will default to 40gig. Basically whatever the slowest, or smallest drives is, your bigger drive will become it's equal (even though technically bigger & faster).

The only real problem I had was knowing 20gigs was going to waste.
