raid + winXP = (literally) 5mins startup time

I experience the most annoying load times now that i've installed xp on my raid 0 array. I have two IBM 60GXP deskstars running on an Abit AT7
using the Highpoint 374 chip. I had a difficult time initially getting XP to run my hdd's at UDMA mode 5 so i tried putting the hdd's in raid for a performance increase.
Once xp loads everything works okay its just that it takes a looooonnnnngggg time to get to a working desktop.

Any help would be apprecitated,

dino

EDIT: System Specs
AthlonXP 2200+
Abit AT7 KT333 chipset
2x IBM Deskstar HDD's in raid 0

well i mean there is no way to quicken the time it takes the raid card to scan the array. on my 2x40 raid-0 it takes about a minute to scan. its better that there is some warning of a screw up anyway, since we are playing with fire using raid-0 anyway.

basically there are threee boot sequences: actual POST when mobo checks everything, then sends info to raid card, which scans the array, then sends it back to mobo which tells windows to start. if windows loading takes a long time try bootvis, maybe to speed up driver initialization, although i have caused more problems with that than i liked.

if you have already set up your comp and installed all your patches and software there is really no reason to reboot if you dont have to anyway (obviously if it crashes tho). sorry this doesnt have any quick fixes for you.
