RAID upgrade question

I currently have 4 x 40GB drives in raid 5 setup, and i would like to upgrade to the same raid-5 setup using 4 x 200GB drives. The problem is, this is a dell powervault system (NAS) with no optical drive and no monitor or keyword/mouse connectors so everything had to be done through terminal service.

I was thinking of removing one of the drives and putting the new drive in and regenerate the new volume with the old os. Rinse and repeat for the other new drives. The question is: once i regenrate everything to the new drives, i would like to to just pop all the new drives in and go. Is that possible? Would it even work?

Thanks y'all

Have you tried calling Dell Tech support? I think I'd get an opinion from them as well as from anyone here to weigh against. Their server support division is very good - not like the clowns that do tech support for their desktops.

Not really sure what you mean in the first bit, but for the second - if you just want to pop them all in and go, then make sure your backup is good, insert your 4 new drives, recreate your raid5 array and restore.
