ok... not really, but im having troubles with my setup.

described here with graphics

:(

if you click on the link, you will see that i am only getting at max about 20 MB/s with an AMI enterprise 1200 scsi raid card paired with 2 seagate 36xl 10krpm 9gb drives in raid 0.

do you guys see a fix for this slow performance?

*link fixed*

Looks like the controller is interfacing with the drives at "Ultra SCSI" speeds according to one of your images.
That'd be capped at 20mb. UltraWide SCSI would be capped 40mb, Ultra2Wide SCSI would be capped at 80mb which would be a good interface speed to see the benefit of your raid 0 array.

Does the controller support U2W speeds?

from the docs, it is supposed to be good for UW speeds.... well, even if it was only ultra, shouldnt i get at least 30mb/s if a single drive can do about the same as my array? (bottom of page)

The AMI Enterprise 1200 is a 40MB/s (UW) card.

I'd highly recommend finding a different SCSI RAID controller.

Have you tested both drives individually?

I know they're the same, but still one could be operating at a slower speed - obviously crippling the array.

With one drive connected, does it say the interface is Ultra-Wide or just Ultra?

What's your stripe size (width) set to?

no, i have not tested both drives individually, but i have put another identical drive on the third channel of the raid controller resulting in approximatly the same numbers as the raid array. (~20MB/s max).

one thing that has been troubling me is how i can chose from the scsi chain speed in the scsi bios. it has options for "fast" and "ultra." no ultra wide, but i assumed that it would be fine????

i am running sca drives with lvd rated sca convertors. also two seperate and tested lvd cables and terminators. the se jumper is in place on both drives.

pabster, any reason you're recommending a diff controller? have you had a bad experience with this card??
