RAID stutters/fails during copies

I just got my RAID0 array set up in my system, and on while copying from my 3rd HD (not connected to RAID controller but to my mobo), it stutters severely and on occasions it fails with a "write protection" error message. The RAID card is a modded Promis Ultra66 card, and the HDs in RAID0 are two IBM 75GXP drives. The 3rd HD is a Maxtor Diamondmax. Any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated...thanks! Also - I just found out that the stuttering occurs whenever the drives are writing. I was installing a game and my mouse would periodically freeze up then let go (about 3 second intervals) hope this provides some info as to whats going on.

It does this even when I'm copying from a CD though, I'm thinking it may be the card itself since it locks the system up for a few seconds...

Yeah, I have a similar problem. I can start copying then win2k give me an error about not being able to access the drive(the RAID) I also have 2 IBM 75GXP drives in my raid. I've tried every combination: stripe, mirror, 2 seperate arrays. Also after it fails, the array becomes not functional I believe. I'm using the FastTrack100... maybe it's our drives, they dont make any weird sounds, maybe this weekend I will try each individually as my primary slave.... any help will be greatly appreciated!! 🙂

Aha! Got it! Turns out I didn't have the driver installed correctly, for some reason it showed up that way in my control panel/system properties. It's working fine and I'm copying files just fine as I type! Thanks
