Here's a strange thing.
I set my RAID array up with a C: (15GB) partition and a D: (43GB) partition using 2 IBM 75GXP 30GB drives with my onboard Promise RAID controller (on an MSI K7T Turbo-R).
When I install Windows 2000 or XP and I benchmark the hard disks using SiSoft Sandra (2001te) I get a score of 24000 for the C: but 43000 for the D:
But if I install Windows 98 or ME, the C: AND the D: both score around 43000.
So why is the C: (which contains the winnt directory) so much slower than it should be? Infact it benchmarks at about the same speed as a single drive!!
I have tried the same on PC's at work (using Promise FastTrak100 controller and different make HD's) and I get the same results.
Any ideas?
